FACULTY FLAT WEBCAM REPAIR PHOTOS
Webcam Repair/Recovery Trip January 29, 2006

On January 29th we journeyed into Faculty Flat to make repairs to the webcam and restore its operation.  Expecting to find that the solar panels were covered with snow we instead discovered that the fault was a bad connector on the electronics box that sits inside the cabin.  Two of the three solar panels in the system were free of snow and would have been sufficient for the webcam to continue as normal.  We repaired the bad connector and also installed a BIG battery with sufficient capacity to assure webcam operation until summer no matter what the snow conditions on the panels may be.

Below are some photos we took during the trip into MK.  The trip was made possible only through the generosity of Kevin Skeen of Three Rivers/Silver City who transported us into Faculty Flat on his snowmobile.  Kevin's son, Tor, assisted us by helping check the control electronics memory through a phone connection to assure the system was working properly before we began our return to the flatlands of Three Rivers.  Also, many thanks to Glenn Cunningham who did much of the work making the repairs.  Glenn was also one of the designers/builders of the webcam last summer.

Did you know that every one of the webcam daily pictures is archived at  http://mk-webcam.net/archives  with the filename being simply the date and time the image was taken?
